What ages are appropriate for a child’s birthday party?
Birthday parties are best suited for children from age 1
through 7 years.
How do I check for
availability?
Call 201-262-2638 x 10 or email us at
njcminfo@aol.com. Our Party Coordinator will
be glad to discuss availability with you.
What days
and times can I schedule my party?
We can accommodate parties seven days a week. Parties
during the weekdays generally begin after 2 PM, however, we
might be able to accommodate an earlier party if desired.
Parties are available on the weekends beginning at 10:00 AM and
begin every half hour until 4:00 PM (until 3 PM May
1st-Sept.30). We have 3 large party rooms and 1 smaller room
available.
How far in
advance should I plan my party?
To obtain the best availability, you should reserve a
date and time at least one to two months in advance. This will
allow you sufficient time to leave the deposit and invite your
guests. We are able to schedule parties within a shorter time
period, but it might not be for your desired time or date so it
is best to plan ahead.
How can I schedule my
party?
First call 201-262-2638 x 10 to check for
availability. We can hold a reservation for a specific date and
time for two weeks. A non-refundable deposit of $100 cash or
check only must be made in person within the two week
period. We will supply you with your party invitations and go
over all the details for your party at that meeting. Please call
our Party Coordinator to schedule an appointment from Wednesday
through Saturday.
How much is the
required deposit?
Deposit is $100 cash or check only. The
deposit is non-refundable but transferable to a different date
if necessary.
What ages of children should I include in my count?
Guests who are 12 months of age through 13 years
should be included in your party count.
Is a
gratuity for the party hostess included?
Gratuities are not included, however, our hostesses
appreciate your thoughtfulness. A gratuity is automatically
added to your bill if you have a party of 20 or more children or
if you have a theme party.
Can I bring in my own food and beverages for the adults?
You are not permitted to bring in any outside food or
beverages except for a birthday cake or other dessert-type item
(cookies, brownies, etc.).
Can I bring in my own party favors for the children?
Favors can be purchased through us (several types are
available and each include a free return pass for the children)
or you can provide your own favors.
Can I bring in
balloons and a pinata?
No, we do not permit balloons or pinatas inside the
museum, however, you are permitted to bring in other decorations
to personalize the party for your child. Centerpieces, banners,
party hats and blowers are all acceptable to bring in if
desired.
What is the party format?
You and your guests would arrive one half hour before the
designated party time. During this period while you wait for all
your guests to arrive, the guests will have fun exploring our
many interactive exhibits. You will be called back to your party
room at the designated party time and your hostess will serve
the food to the children and adults and lead the children in
singing “Happy Birthday”. All food and beverages will be served
during the one hour time allotted for your birthday party.. At
the conclusion of your party time, the room will be cleaned and
you will not have access to the room again. After dessert, the
children and adults will have unlimited playtime in the museum
and may participate in any of the special activities that take
place throughout the day. All of our exhibits are “hands on” and
geared for children up to the age of seven or eight. The
children must be accompanied by an adult while exploring the
museum. We strongly suggest at least one adult chaperone for
every four children (the adults will have a fun time also!).
